A height + sensory guide for families with kids under 7
Before you leave home, measure your kids. Height requirements are enforced at the gate, and finding out at the ride entrance with an excited 3-year-old is nobody's idea of fun. This guide covers most rides at every Disney park (and if a ride isn't listed here, it's safe for all ages), what height your child needs to be, and how intense the ride actually is.
Intensity labels reflect sensory experience, not just speed. A slow boat ride can be genuinely scary if it's pitch dark and full of ghosts. A roller coaster can be a perfect first ride if you can see the whole track from the queue. Read the labels, then trust your instincts about your child.
The sweet spot ages are guidelines only. Every child is different. A fearless 3-year-old will handle things a cautious 6-year-old won't. When in doubt, preview rides on YouTube before your trip so your kids know exactly what to expect. Each ride name is a clickable link to a YouTube POV walkthrough.
Measure at home and bring a note. If your child is right at a height minimum, park cast members use a wand that measures to the inch; hair and shoes count differently depending on the ride. When in doubt, measure without shoes.
If a ride or show isn't listed here, it's typically safe for all ages. This guide covers attractions with notable sensory considerations. Shows, character meet-and-greets, gentle boat rides, and most walk-through experiences are universally appropriate and don't need a warning.
Note: This page will be updated over time. It is designed to be printable, but check back here for the latest as rides and requirements change over time.
